Teatro del Vino Tasting in Florence: Discoveries, Producers, and New Vintages

the content is only for registered users

Every year, some of the most respected names in Italian wine gather in Florence for one of the most anticipated professional tastings in the country: Teatro del Vino, the annual portfolio tasting organized by the renowned distribution company Teatro del Vino. Reserved exclusively for wine professionals, this event represents a unique opportunity to explore some of Italy’s most exciting producers in a single, elegant setting.

Held in a magnificent historic villa just outside the heart of Florence, the tasting unfolds over two full days, allowing industry professionals to taste through the entire portfolio at a relaxed and focused pace. For us at Tuscany Uncorked Society, it is always an inspiring moment to reconnect with producers, discover new realities, and evaluate the latest vintages that will soon reach wine lovers and collectors.

A Celebration of Italian Wine Excellence

The Teatro del Vino tasting is not simply a trade event; it is a snapshot of contemporary Italian wine. The format allows participants to taste wines directly with producers, gaining insight into vineyard work, vintages, and evolving styles. Over the two-day event, it is possible to taste all the wineries represented in the distribution’s catalogue — a rare opportunity for deep comparative tasting.

Among the many excellent producers present this year, a few stood out in particular for their clarity of vision, precision, and personality.

Martissima — A Young Reality in the Collio

One of the most exciting discoveries of the tasting was Martissima, a small and dynamic winery located in the Collio area of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Though young as a project, the winery already shows remarkable focus and ambition: producing wines of great quality while maintaining a clear stylistic identity.

The estate is run by Marta Venica, a member of the historic Venica family, long-established producers in the Collio region. Martissima is an intimate project, covering just 4 hectares of vineyards with a total annual production of approximately 15,000 bottles.

Across the range, a clear common thread emerges: drinkability and exceptional purity. The wines are precise, clean, and expressive, showcasing the elegance and freshness that make Collio one of Italy’s most compelling white wine territories today.

Brovia — Barolo 2021 Shows Depth and Elegance

Another highlight of the tasting was Brovia, a winery that Tuscany Uncorked Society has long supported and admired. The newly released Barolo 2021 vintage left a strong impression.

These wines show a darker, more structured profile, with a material and layered texture balanced by remarkable elegance. The vintage perfectly represents what many Barolo enthusiasts seek in a new release: depth, precision, and aging potential combined with immediate harmony. It is a classic yet contemporary expression of the Langhe, confirming Brovia’s position among the most consistent producers in the denomination.
