Last weekend, the highly anticipated Anteprima del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano took place, marking one of the most important moments of the year for the denomination. For Tuscany Uncorked Society, it is always an essential appointment — a chance to taste the new vintages, discover emerging projects, and engage directly with the producers shaping the future of the appellation.
The event was organized over two days and hosted inside the historic Fortezza di Montepulciano. The setting alone makes the experience unique: tasting great wines while overlooking the rolling Tuscan hills creates a powerful sense of place and identity.
Inside the fortress, 57 wineries were present, spread across three different floors, allowing visitors to explore a wide spectrum of styles and interpretations. The organization made it easy to move between producers, compare vintages, and fully immerse in the diversity of Vino Nobile.
This year’s overall quality was impressive. We had the opportunity to taste new vintages, explore innovative projects, and, most importantly, spend time speaking directly with the winemakers. These conversations remain the true value of Anteprima — understanding vineyard choices, aging decisions, and the evolving philosophy behind each label.
Among the producers we consistently appreciate, Poliziano once again stood out. A historic and highly respected estate in the territory, Poliziano continues to produce wines that are both contemporary and deeply rooted in Montepulciano’s identity. This year, Asinone particularly captured our attention — an elegant yet austere expression, structured and refined. Asinone was one of the first single-vineyard crus of Montepulciano and remains a benchmark for the denomination.
Among the many excellent producers present this year, a few stood out in particular for their clarity of vision, precision, and personality.
Another winery we would like to highlight is I Cipressi. With a younger yet respectful approach to tradition, they craft wines built for aging while maintaining clarity and precision. One wine we truly enjoyed from this estate is their Rosso di Montepulciano — slender, juicy, and vibrant, yet never simple or predictable.
